Devaa had a poor opening and that includes Mumbai circuit where the film had best chances though its likely the film will eventually have a better performance here due to Mumbai city and Pune. The film is also a remake of some South film which makes it even tougher as the original film would have been seen which cuts the audience down further.

The film has action but its for urban audiences and with the Mumbai feel of the film it restricts the film further which can lead to the biggest metro Delhi NCR not having the collections it should. Action films have to cater to the circuits and and with metros struggling it becomes even more important and if you cant do that its best to leave this zone alone. The opening collections of this film in the likes of UP and CI are horrible.

The film is also devoid of music which could have enabled a wider reach and possibly a better opening day but eventually it comes down to the fact that the film is pretty much regional and the key center for the film Mumbai city is in such a poor state where collections are concerned due to changed habits.

There is the weekend to come so hope will be of growth but it has to be phenomenal growth on Saturday and Sunday and that is very tough in this genre. If this film came about a few years back it would not be so bad but the fact that these type of films lacking entertainment are still coming means the industry is just understanding the huge change in the box office and its business as usual. This is not just Devaa but many other films and probably more to come.
