Adipurush (Hindi) took a huge opening on its first day with outstanding collections across all Hindi circuits. It has managed to collect 36-36.50 crore nett which is the third best opening post pandemic and will be among the top ten openings ever for a Hindi film. These numbers are coming with a limited South release due to the regional versions.

The number has gone well over expectations as the momentum it picked up on advance bookings on Wednesday continued all through the first day. The final circuit numbers will come later but Mumbai seems to be around 11.50 crore nett giving a value for North Karnataka which is with the South distributors while Delhi / UP will be around 8 crore nett while East Punjab will do around 3.25 crore nett. The latter is extraordinary with the circuit not doing that well and a film with a South hero but Ramayana is huge in the North therefore helping the film.

The collections of the film also look strong in the East with Odisha pushing the film and out performing despite a Telugu version also running there. The numbers of the film have really been pushed by the Hindu crowd as on paper the figures from UP look extraordinary but Muslim centres are less and its the same with Bihar where collections are very good but again Muslim centres underperform. Basically the film has scored heavily where the Kerala Story did well.

The film does have negativity and as its a religious film this negativity goes to another level but the box office is doing fantastically well and collections at multiplexes are strong again on Saturday and with heavy collections at mass centres on day one they will probbaly drop on Saturday but that is pretty much normal. At the end of the day the box office is going through rough times and this film is much needed relief especially for the single screen exhibitors where the film has exceedingly well.
