Ramayana (Hindi) has done very well on day one and should collect around 42-43 crore nett depending on where the mass circuits fall when final collections come. The best case looks a 45 crore nett figure for the film. The film could have done better but you know from the onset that its tough in these pre Diwali days as films fail to build momentum especially in current as those who have urgency to watch book in advance. Its the same story with Ramayana with collections moving very slowly in current.

The four days are a bonus for the film and picking up 40 crore nett plus on the first day is a very good result and a strong number for pre Diwali and thought it has not matched pre release expectations within the industry and probably many outside predictions in the media is not important because those numbers were never going to happen anyway.

It is the timing of release date which has meant the most expensive film ever has not got the biggest day ever which it should be getting. The collections in a small circuit like Odisha do suggest it could have smashed the record as it its doing more than Dhurandhar 2 and here pre Diwali probably does not affect as much as other parts of the country. Its not as much as Toxic in Odisha but that is a South type actioner for the mass male crowd and these are best bets for the circuit. 

Ramayana is more of a Hollywood type of family entertainer but to get the second highest number ever in the circuit means records would have been broken in many other circuits if it was released in a normal week and it would have challenged Dhurandhar 2. But when you make a film like Ramayana its not about getting day one records but the best lifetime total and the film had to release before Diwali for that. 

A Friday release would have been best but an early Overseas release meant it had to come one day earlier. The overseas market is fantastic as Australia picks up A$500k plus. Its less than Dhurandhar 2 but with a Gulf release which Dhurandhar 2 did not have it is sure to have the biggest opening day ever in Overseas for a Hindi film. There is a good total come from regional versions also but its not in line with its release which was very extensive.
