Sardaarji 2 had an excellent first week grossing around 10.75 crore nett in East Punjab and 3 crore nett apprx in the rest of India for a first week total of 13.75 crore nett. The film is the first blockbuster of Punjabi cinema in 2016. The other successful films have been Ambarsariya (Super Hit), Love Punjab (Hit) and Ardaas (Hit).
The collections are slightly lower than Sardaarji (2015) as the weekdays held up very well but not as strong as that film. It is the second highest first week collection ever in Punjabi cinema and the second Punjabi film to go over 10 crore nett in East Punjab in week one. This is a feat achieved by only 8 Hindi films despite having wider releases and generally getting benefit of holidays.
