The first positive this year so far has come in the form of Badass Ravi Kumar which has opened to a good response and is practically certain to be the first success of the year. Badass Ravi Kumar is a film that has cost under 20 crore to make and release and has seen a good response in mass pockets be it Gujarat, CI or Bihar. This is basically because as the film is offering entertainment for the mass crowd coupled with good music.

The film actually had a trailer which was pretty good and the first song was a huge hit but it was a long campaign so it was going to be hard to hold but today its probably first impression is last impression and with the first units working its has a got an audience to the theatres. The opening of the film is better than last weeks Devaa, it may not reach the number of Devaa as release is less and bigger multiplexes will be less but ceratin mass circuits will come out higher. Also generally occupancy is better than Devaa in the morning shows.

The other release Loveyapa has had a horrible start and its one of those urban love stories which would have hardly registered with public but there was a huge marketing spend and it had the son of Aamir Khan so within the industry there were some expectations and no one probably expected such bad collections.

But today its not about what the industry thinks or expects but what the public sees and they would have seen a horrible trailer and the results of that are there on day one. No promotion or marketing can change a trailer that is of no interest. The film is remake of a Tamil film which worked very well in its home state but Hindi is different kettle of fish. The original probably had a local flavour and here with Loveyapa its seems to have been shifted to NCR but the NCR film has not worked post pandemic like it used to before the pandemic.

The film is a remake so that can also be an issue with the film as its target audience may have seen. The film hardly stands a chance with an initial like this as even at bigger multiplexes its no competition for Badass Ravi Kumarin terms of initial.

The repeat run of Sanam Teri Kasam has also got a strong response across the country with the numbers coming out being such that have never been seen before for a repeat run. The results are pretty crazy so the word of block bookings goes around but lets see what happens as today anything that surprises is seen as not organic. The film had failed to so well in 2016 but had super hit music and is again a youth film for that college going crowd.
