Jigra collected a poor 16.50 crore nett in its first weekend and the trend is not for there for the film either. Like Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video the hope was that Dussehra playing out differently due to the limited growth on Saturday but fir that Sunday had to go up which did not happen.
The film looked metro heavy from the trailer which meant a limited audience so this meant that this metro target audience had to love the film for it to do much at the box office and this is a tall order especially post pandemic. The business in metros is better but at the end of day the appreciation is also missing here.
Films just catering to the metros can still score but with stars its probably a tough road as then there are expectations of a certain box office and those targets are hard. The film has scored better in Mumbai and South with Mumbai and Mysore coming out with better collections than the competition but the rest are are generally lower.
The performance is probably a little better overseas as collections will be in the $1.3-1.4 million range with Gulf and United Kingdom being decent but considering the genre US / Canada should have been much better. The three day numbers of Jigra are as follows.
Friday - 4,50,00,000
Saturday - 6,50,00,000
Sunday - 5,50,00,000
TOTAL - 16,50,00,000 apprx
