Munjya has taken a decent opening for a film with no face value whatsoever but the caveat is that it does have discounted rates at many multiplexes which would have helped. Its not the cinema day discount level and across the board but it is considerable at some multiplexes.
The film may end up with an 2 crore nett plus number or even higher as the day could run well with these lower rates and this would be a decent number. If it came without these lower rates then it would actually be a good number. The film is getting a first day audience in so this does give the film a chance as if it the opening was 1 crore nett or under then it does make it very difficult unless the film is very niche.
Munjya is a horror comedy with a creature which is an interesting concept but it comes with no faces which makes the first day harder. The film has some music which would have been a plus and the genre is a also a plus but the horror factor here is more towards kids more like Hollywood films. This could work with the family audience but will depend on the reports.
The weekend collections will tell where the film stands once the support of discounted rates is take out of the picture. The opening day number will be a plus for the film.
