Mr & Mrs Mahi is looking at a good advance in terms of tickets sold due to the cinema lovers day and the lower ticket rates. The advances started well and this will continue till release. The film may well notch up one lakh tickets at the national chains and it will not be surprise if it goes over as the final day will see a push especially as the word gets around of the INR 99 ticket rate which was only announced yesterday..
The advances opened early on Tuesday due to the lower rates otherwise there would be no point to open advances for this type of film three days before release. The comparison for the film will be Article 370 which did an opening day of 5 crore nett plus and racked up 1.21 lakh tickets at national chains before release.
The difference with Article 370 was that the film was getting traction on normal rates and then the cinema day announcement came after advances were already open and this just propelled the advances but it was the traction before the lower rates which gave an inkling the film can do well.
Here with Mr & Mrs Mahi the advances opened with the lower rates which has given the film a big boost and it will get a larger audience on day one then it would have got on a normal scenario. The lack of releases over the last few weeks will also help over the weekend but it will be about where the film stands when this buffer of cheap tickets is pulled away.
