Chup has taken a fair opening though in terms of occupancy it is good as morning shows record 50-60% occupancy on average. It is better in the bigger multiplexes. As the solid occupancy is driven by lower ticket rates and collections will not be as high as they normally would be with this occupancy.
Still it will be a decent first day number which should go over 2 crore nett or even 2.50 crore nett. The film would not have got this sort of start if it was normal rates so the film has got a huge benefit from lower rates. But it remains to be seen what happens post Friday when rates go back to normal as it will have to find an audience then also.
Brahmastra is simply fantastic on its third Friday as the cheap ticket prices drive huge occupancy of around 80-90% and it will record excellent collections with admits which could be similar to the first day of the film. The film had racked up almost 6 crore nett in advance for the Friday so there is potential the film could reach double digits.
The film would have probably hit a 20-22 crore nett week on a normal week run and now it remains to be seen what sort of boost comes out of this Friday. The rest of the week could see lower collections due to the huge consumption which will happen on Friday but the week muct go over 22 crore nett as above that will be the bonus for the film from cinema day.
There was also Dhokha - Round D Corner which also has a boost from cinema day and can top the 1 crore nett mark which is unthinkable for a film like this on a normal day. The business on general has seen a huge boost due to the very low ticket rate of INR 75 which is there in most multiplexes for the day.
