Honsla Rakh became the highest grossing Punjabi film worldwide over the first weekend as it grossed around 17.50 crore beating the figures of Shadaa and Carry On Jatta 2 which were 16 crore and 15.25 crore respectively.
The film did business of 7.65 crore nett in India which is 9 crore gross apprx and in overseas the film grossed $1.15 million which is around 8.50 crore. The opening weekend overseas was an all time record beating the $975k of Chal Mera Putt 3 released a few weeks back.
The overseas business of Punjabi films seems to have gone a notch higher post the pandemic and this is without a huge market like Australia struggling at present due to covid19. When this market goes to normal the $4 million mark is not going to look huge for Punjabi films like it did before the pandemic.
