The Tamil film industry has a new leader as the Diwali release Bigil has become the highest grosser for the industry. The film has not reached the numbers of Bahubali - The Conclusion in Tamil Nadu but is the highest grossing Tamil film in the state. It beat the numbers of Viswasam released released earlier this year which recorded 112 crore NETT and 132 crore GROSS while Bigil stands at 114 crore NETT and 135 crore GROSS.

It must be noted though Viswasam clashed with a Rajnikant starrer Petta which itself did very well and this would have affected the collections of Viswasam and with a solo release it may have challenged Bahubali - The Conclusion in Tamil Nadu. Bigil will have a GROSS of almost 200 crore across India. The film has done very well in Nizam / Andhra, Karnataka / Mysore and Kerala with a combined GROSS of 60 crore in these three markets which takes it to 195 crore and then there is 2.50 crore from the Hindi circuits which gives a total of 197.50 crore and it will probably add a little more to finish at 198 crore plus. It is third highest grossing Tamil film across India after 2.0 and Endhiran (Robot in hindi). The GROSS numbers of the top films in Tamil Nadu are as follows. All the films are tracked in NETT but due to many tax changes they do not give the correct picture so the below are the GROSS figures for the top films in Tamil Nadu.
