The year so far has been a good one as far as cumulative business goes with the business going up around 15% from last year. The near 600 crore nett figure in the first quarter has come despite some big films under performing at the box office. The figures have come because of the flow of big releases.There has been at least one major release a month. normally there will not be a Jolly LLB 2 in February or Badrinath Ki Dulhania in March especially the latter. March is traditionally a weak month but this year with Badrinath Ki Dulhania, March has done well and the gains are practically all in March. This proves that business is there even in a dull month if the window in there.
There have been 52 Hindi releases in the first quarter of 2017 as compared to 59 in 2016. The cumulative figures for the first three months with comparison with the last two years are as follows.
