De De Pyaar De 2 had a slow start as this rom com genre continues to struggle. The film is a sequel of a successful film but the original film was not a huge HIT or anything. The trailer of the film was fine offering some humour and entertainment but the genre needs music to get the ticket counter going on the first day. There is no other way to get that initial crowd. 

The promotion may have been low key but that hardly matters as today that just stays in and around social media does not reach the actual audience. One song was the need of the day but it was not there though there are songs in the film but none which you can all huge HITS. The opening day of the film will probably come out less than Son Of Sardaar 2 or best case a similar number but the trajectory can be better than that film as this film will have a more targeted audience in multiplexes of the bigger centres which should mean a better jump on Saturday.

The biggest opening for this genre post pandemic is Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar on a holiday like Holi at 14 crore nett. Take the holiday factor out then its 10 crore nett. This 10 crore nett is coming with a budget higher than normal for the genre and on to with stars like Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor who have a pull with the youth. If this does not spell it out how tough it is to open with the genre then nothing will.

This does not mean that the genre will not work as if the merits are there then it will work for sure but without an initial draw it makes life very hard. De De Pyaar De 2 will also have to do it the hard way and a very good jump on Saturday is a must.
