There were two Hindi releases this week with Baaghi 4 and The Bengal Files with both being franchise films. The Bengal Files is another Files film after the insane success of The Kashmir Files but its not the same this time as the film gets banned in its best potential market West Bengal and on top the wider public is probably more aware of the Kashmir issue which gave that film a bigger audience. The opening is weak but its not an opening film anyway.

Baaghi 4 will get some sort of numbers day one but they will be numbers and not collections and a bit like Sky Force and Bhool Chuk Maaf. Its not that this game has been played with just three films it is there with even some of the biggest films post the pandemic though as manufactured box office is very rampant in the industry it becomes about to which level its done.

It gets tedious to point these things out when but the problem here with Baaghi 4 is that it will have more water than milk as far as day one collections go and it was the same case with films like Sky Force and Bhool Chuk Maaf. There is that 5-20%push of manufactured collections out there with so many films post the pandmeic so sometimes some people are going to go that extra step and that looks to be the case with Baaghi 4 as far as the first day goes. 

The film itself is not in the zone as the earlier Baaghi films as the film tries to find audiences with excessive violence where the earlier films were action films which families could watch. The hero Tiger Shroff had huge potential being an action star catering to masses yet with a following with kids. It was a great combination but that is down the drain now due to bad choice of films. So it becomes about reinvention and Baaghi 4 is not that.

The film of the week is The Conjuring - Last Rights which has taken a strong opening and is sure to do well. The advances of the film are only second to Chhaava if we compare with Hindi films though obviously The Conjuring - Last Rights has a huge contribution in South which Chhaava did not.

The franchise has a huge following in India as Conjuring 2 had done over 65 crore nett in 2016. This enabed other films out of the universe to do good business as well like the Annabelle and Nun films.
