Salaar has taken a fair opening in Hindi as audiences turned out in good numbers in some pockets. The film had pretty poor units for a large scale film and that too from the director of the KGF films but there was a good trailer a few days before release which would have helped its cause.
The film has actually opened to good numbers in Maharashtra, Gujarat and CPCI while Odisha is excellent and it is possible these areas will get better numbers than what Dunki did on the first day. North India and Eastern India (outside Odisha and parts of Bihar) are lower and these will be dependent on the reports. The collections of Dunki are also better in these parts as compared to West and Central so that will also make it harder especially in North India.
The numbers are well short of the last few films of Prabhas like Saaho and Adipurush but those films had more hype and were solo releases and here it is a sort of clash with a Shahrukh Khan starrer although its releasing a day latter. Putting aside what those earlier films collected this is a pretty good initial for a standalone (non franchise) south dubbed film and the film can target a 15 crore nett number at least and maybe even get close to the RRR day one numbers.
The advances showed more momentum on the last day of release and this has carried through to the opening day though its generally where Dunki has weaker collections. The film has a huge opening in South with outstanding numbers in Nizam / Andhra, Mysore and Kerala but that was expected due to the star value down there and the test was always going to be Hindi and this initial gives the film a chance of working.
