Pathaan continued to record extraordinary advances over the weekend and at the end of business on Sunday it was already practically the highest advance ever for an original Hindi film as it notches up 30 crore nett in advance. This is a similar total to the final advance of War. It has already beaten Brahmastra which is the highest advance for an original Hindi film post the pandemic.
The all time record for a Hindi film is KGF 2 which had an advance of 42 crore nett and that is easily in reach of Pathaan. If this was the trend of advance pre pandemic we could easily predict that Pathaan will be the first Hindi film to hit the 50 crore nett mark in terms of advance but trends are different now and its best not to predict and just see what happens.
The advance is being helped by the second day being a big holiday and all records have been smashed for advances on day two with phenomenal advances and because of this the ratio of advance for the first day is just 50% which sometimes happens for a film releasing on Friday but very rare for a midweek release which are day one lopsided.
The weekend also saw advances improving in places like Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh which were slower when advances started. These places are still less than the likes of West Bengal and Nizam / Andhra but advances are now better. Basically the advance is suggesting fireworks at the box office for the first two days and will show theatrical business is still there for films which have the elements to bring the public in.
