Brahmastra took and excellent opening of around 45-50% with many cinemas seeing 100 plus audience in the morning shows which has been a long time coming especially for an outright Hindi film. Although the occupancy rate is lower than Sanju the film has a shot of turning out to be the highest Ranbir Kapoor opening as ticket rates are higher now. Sanju had tremendous growth at mass centres on the day so if the final number Brahmastra number falls short it will be mainly because of that.
The opening of Brahmastra is fantastic in Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Pune, Hyderabad and Bangalore and a few of the other bigger cities while other places are good to very good. There is a semi holiday in Maharashtra and South which will help these pockets and they should outperform. The Nizam and Mysore circuits should record huge collections as Hyderabad and Bangalore form a huge part of these circuits and occupancy is excellent in these cities.
The opening in mass pockets is lower compared to the bigger centres but still its much higher than anyone could have expected a week back. The collections in places like CI and Bihar look like challenging the numbers of RRR (hindi) and Sooryavanshi (Bihar higher than this film as market was just opening up at time of release) and this is a result as both these are mass action films.
The film has come after so many setbacks for Hindi films over the last few months proving that the audience is out there even at these high ticket rates and now its just about the reports of the public. If they go on side of the film then there will be no stopping the film. There are some areas which could have been stronger today and if they pick up tomorrow that will also boost the film for the longer term.
