RRR has recorded fantastic collections on Sunday of 30-31 crore nett as the mass markets show huge jumps and were super strong. Gujarat / Saurashtra is flirting not just with a post pandemic record but an all time record for a single day. The Saurashtra side is practically certain and it remains to be seen where Gujarat finishes up. 

The first weekend will finish up with around 73 crore nett plus which is the second best number after Sooryavanshi which was nearly 77 crore nett. There are many places better than Sooryavanshi like Bihar and Odisha and even North India. Bihar has been set on fire with a 3.50 crore nett apprx weekend and this is a number which no film has even got close to post the pandemic. Odisha is fantastic as the Hindi version goes to 2 crore nett plus but South dubbed films have always had a huge market there.

The film is looking to hold well on Monday as well with good advances at most  places. The slight concern will be the multiplex business as the numbers have come out good everywhere but if we look at occupancy levels in North and even Mumbai city they are not much better than Gangubai Kathiawdi which was a lower performing film. So here the higher rates have worked in favour of the film to get the numbers but now the  film will also face a heavier drop in rates than normal probably in the 30-35% range which will mean the occupancy will have to hold a bit better than normal also.

Normally this would hardly been an issue with over 70 crore nett up on the board from a film from the South with no branding and unknown faces but the selling factor of the film was none of this but the director Rajamouli whose last film was Bahubali - The Conclusion which has led to the need for higher recoveries from Hindi theatricals.
