Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui has had a low first day of around 3.25 crore nett with a huge ratio of the business coming from Delhi NCR and Chandigarh. The collections outside these pockets are very low and although mass pockets were not expcted to do well it should have collected better in Mumbai city, Pune, Kolkata and Bangalore.
This was an important film as it was one those multiplex content films and a good opening day result after the success of Sooryavanshi would have bought been a huge boost to the industry. The multiplex audience in the big cities for smaller medium films has not been coming out in numbers and the hope was this film may bring more of that audience out but it was not to be.
The likes of Antim - The Final Truth and Tadap have had mass support where the audiences are turning up and collections were better but this film was never going to get support of the wider audience and was relying on the city multiplex audience to turn up. But at the moment this audience is only coming out in numbers for the big films while it is so important for one these types to get some sort of decent opening as so many Hindi films today are in this zone.
There could be an issue about the film being about the LGBT community which has kept the audience away but still collections still should have been better. Even Delhi NCR which has collected better than other places should have been much better.
