The Rajnikant starrer Annaatthe is creating history in Tamil Nadu as it collects 53.50 crore nett in the state and becomes the first film in history of Tamil cinema to cross the 50 crore mark in the first three days. The other circuits are not doing well with a combined contribution of around 13-13.50 crore nett
This takes the three day business of the across India to around 67 crore nett. The film is being carried by home state of Tamil Nadu and it remains to be seen if this continues.
Irrespective of whether these collections sustain the fact remains its come post the pandemic and recorded insane collections at places. The box office in Tamil Nadu has a lot of grey areas working with shares and limited daily collections in terms of theatre collections but wherever theatres numbers are coming they are far far ahead of anything seen before be it in Chennai, Pondicherry, Vellore, Salem or Coimbatore. These are mainly big centres and the film is performing very well in these.
The first day figures from some theatres especially in Chennai were mind boggling and even Sooryavanshi never had such figures from any theatre in India. The extended weekend of the film should be around 85 crore nett across India
