Gully Boy is competing with the biggest openers in Mumbai city and Pune. The final collection in both these cities could come out to be one of the top days in history. A Thugs of Hindostan collected 3.75 crore nett in Mumbai city (not including Thane) and 1.95 crore nett in Pune while both Bahubali - The Conclusion and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo were a little over 3.50 crore nett in Mumbai city and 1.85-1.90 crore nett in Pune.  

The other big ones were Sanju and Singham Returns which did 3.20 crore nett and 3.40 crore nett in Mumbai city on day one respectively. But outside these five films no film has even collected 3 crore nett in Mumbai city. Gully Boys has a shot at 3 crore nett, it does depend on the evening shows as advances were strong in Mumbai city so many key multiplexes will already have sold out tickets leaving less for the late shows.

Basically the film has opened like a all India 30 crore nett opener in Mumbai city and Pune, obviously the all India number will not be that high here as other places are not as strong. Even if the film does 2.50-2.75 crore nett in Mumbai city it will still be competing with like of Tiger Zinda Hai and Happy New Year. Valentines Day has helped but possible less in Mumbai and Pune as there was a craze among the youth for this film in these parts.
