There were multiple releases this week and it has turned out to be a disaster with all the films be it Fryday, Helicpter Eela, Jalebi and Tummbad failing to register at the box office. Helicopter Eela was the best of the lot but the collection was just 75 lakhs nett. The first day collections of the films were as follows.

FryDay - 25,00,000 apprx

Helicopter Eela - 75,00,000 apprx

Jalebi - 35,00,000 apprx

Tummbad - 50,00,000 apprx

The combined total of all these four films is under 2 crore nett at 1.85 crore nett. They managed to take up around 2500 screens between them so with just 1.85 crore nett coming it is a paltry return. Even if we add the other two Hindi films Maal Road Dilli and Play This then it still does not reach 2 crore nett as these films had practically zero collections.

Tummbad has the media support as expected so when collections are this low it should be able to show the best growth out of the lot but eventually there will not be many people out there to watch this type of film.

There were a couple of Hollywood releases with A Star Is Born and First Man and these have not done much better with First Man coming out on top. The collections for First Man will be around 40 lakhs while A Star Is Born will be around 20 lakhs nett.

All in all the audience has kept well away from the releases that have come out this week.
