Sanju is heading for the biggest opening day of the year as the collections look likely to cross the 30 crore nett mark if this pace keeps up. The film opened lower than Race 3 at many places but the way its going it will have matched the collections of Race 3 in places like Ludhiana, Surat, Jodhpur etc while it will be ahead in the metros like Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore.

The first day collections should finish at least 10% ahead of Race 3 which would mean a 30 crore nett plus total. It could even challenge the 31.25 crore nett of Avengers - Infinity which was the highest opening including all films. The film will not quite reach the business of that film at multiplexes but Sanju has a far wider release to cover the shortfall. 

The way the first day is gone it is possible that there will be growth on Saturday from even this level though the multiplexes where it is outstanding could face capacity issues similar to what happened with Avengers - Infinity War which had a flat weekend. The plus is that Sanju is a wider release so there is potential of huge growth in single screens and smaller centers if the film gets appreciation there.
