Blackmail had a poor weekend as collections were just around 10 crore nett which is the same range as Madaari (9.92 crore nett), more than Qarib Qarib Singlle (8.13 crore nett) but less than Hindi Medium (11.79 crore nett). These are the three recent Irrfan Khan solo starrers. But more than the numbers its the appreciation which is missing as film is too dark and therefore the growth did not happen over the weekend.

There were IPL matches over the weekend but the weekend business proves it hardly affects business at this stage as Baaghi 2 got the growth on Saturday and Sunday despite it having a huge ratio of business coming outside multiplexes where the major growth happens. Maybe the in the later stages it could affect films a little but nothing like a big match featuring India.

The first two day collections of Blackmail are as follows.

Friday - 2,50,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 3,35,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 4,00,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 9,85,00,000 apprx

The film has a low budget of around 18-19 crore including PA and with digital covering almost 50% of the cost the film so it will probably be a plus for the producers but when theatrical does not do well then its unlikely to do well on satellite or digital so the losses will be for holders of these rights.

The business on Monday could hold at low levels till the end of the week but that will not be enough to give it a sustained run at the box office
