Ambarsariya recorded a very strong start with the second highest opening ever for a Punjabi film. The all India collections were around 2 crore nett. The top five opening days in East Punjab for Punjabi films are as follows.
1. Sardaarji - 2.02 crore
2. Ambarsariya - 1.58 crore
3. Jatt & Juliet 2 - 1.26 crore
4. Angrez - 1.06 crore
5. Punjab 1984 - 1.02 crore
The film grossed 35 lakhs nett in Delhi /UP which is excellent. There were two hit Punjabi films a few weeks back and now this could do even better. The numbers have come despite competition from Batman, Rocky Handsome and Kapoor & Sons.
Infact they have not really given competition as occupancy of all films is far lower than Ambarsariya but the screen space was affected in East Punjab. In Delhi the film got the required screens as Punjabi films release on limited screenings and the collections there were similar to Sardaarji. If there was only Rocky Handsome to contend with then in East Punjab it could also have challenged for records.
