What is true love? Is it responsibility, Dedication, Obsession, Desire, Compromise, Sacrifice or Surrender Zameer is a very beautiful, entertaining, romantic & humorous try towards answering these questions.
Pooja (Amisha Patel) is a naughty daughter of a rich father, She is sharp in her studies and in mischief too. She enjoys singing, laughing, dancing and playing pranks on others, along with her friends.
One day a new lecturer Suraj Chauhan (Ajay Devgan) comes to her college on a six month deputation. Youthful Suraj comes across as a person who is too serious and mature for his age. He has got his own way of understanding and dealing with his life and also that of others.
The first meting of Pooja and Suraj turns out to be quiet an interesting one and Pooja starts loving Suraj in his own style. Suraj tries to make Pooja understand of its futility in his own way. But the obsession of first love does not allow Pooja to think clearly and she barges ahead with full force into her reckless beliefs.
Seeing all his methods failing, Suraj deliberately introduces Pooja to Supriya Maheshwari (Mahima Chaudary). Supriya is the love of Suraj and is prey to a very cruel fate, a very famous Bharat Natyam exponent once, she is today a paralytic. But Suraj is sure that one day due to his sheer power of love, will and encouragement he will be able to make Supriya alright again.
After meeting Supriya, Pooja feels that she has been cheated of her love and she looses all her power to think and understand like a normal human being. When others try to prevail on her she says "One never sees anybody's horoscope before loving the other, love just happens and I have fallen in love with him and can't forget him as one can never forget his/her first love".
A dangerous obsession starts burning in Pooja's heart, and one day how the obsession of hers shatters her ego (Zameer), the life of Suraj and the soul of Supriya is shown in a very sensitive yet dangerous and colourful manner in Zameer.
