Gold is the story of independent India, told through the greatest years of the glorious sport-Hockey. When the British Indian hockey team wins gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, the feeling of unabashed joy of the players gets greatly hindered by the fact that their country is colonized.
When finally the 1948 Olympics are announced, Tapan Das, a young assistant manager in 1936, makes and unspoken vow to return to the arena and win as a free man.
