Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has opened very well across multiplexes in India with occupancy around the 30% mark. The film saw solid advances but more importantly the opening in the morning is better and the film has good momentum and is pushing forward in most areas.

The main issue post pandemic has been that can you penetrate the Hindi belts and only those films which have managed to have put up good collections while the others have seen very low opening collections. This film is very good in Hindi belts and hopefully when the first circuit totals come out in the night it will be 75 lakh plus number in Rajasthan or 50 lakh apprx in CI and this will set the film up. Gujarat / Saurashtra is also going to a very good number.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 does have a shot at the 15 crore nett number though that is likely to be towards the top end of the range. Even if the number comes out a little less its a great start and a huge morale booster for the industry. The most important thing being that this film is not a huge budget event film but a more regular medium budget film which shows that these types can also get an audience on the opening day but as long as they have wide appeal and not just for the 4-5 metros. 

The film will also be the best opener ever for Kartik Aryan beating the numbers of Love Aaj Kal but that was a holiday release so maybe is not the best film to compare with as if we take out the holiday factor then Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is beating that film by a distance.  

The other release Dhaakad has seen a very dull opening and may even struggle to get over the 1 crore nett mark. The film is a female action film with Kangana Ranaut who is more of a media star rather than a box office star so a film made on such a cost is a risk and the film hardly stands a chance. The genre has not worked before much but maybe it can do better with a bigger star and the USP of a female action film would be a female doing action so it probably has to be done in a different way while here it looks like the same as any hero led spy film with the female replacing the male character.
