The postponement of Jersey left the field clear for the three holdover films and it looks like Pushpa (Hindi) is going to reign supreme as collections go up on New Years Eve in the figures from the circuits coming through. Actually all three films should have been flat or up as there was no new release and it was New Years Eve which gets a nice bump in collection but Pushpa (Hindi) looks the strongest film.
Spiderman - No Way Home and 83 seem to be down in the 10% range on the third and second Friday respectively while Pushpa (Hindi) is likely to see an upturn. We say likely as circuits coming in are up from Thursday but there was an alert for a terrorist attack in Mumbai which meant many cinemas had to shut down which may adversely affect the collections in Mumbai and that will lead to a lesser total in Mumbai circuit where a huge bulk of the collections of Pushpa (Hindi) come from. Still despite this there should be some gains on New Years Eve.
There is no doubt that the daily collections of Pushpa (Hindi) are going to challenge Spiderman - No Way Home and it could even be tomorrow itself and looking at the trends it will also catch up to 83 as long as cinemas stay open. The film is now going to go past the 65 crore nett mark eyes closed and could go anywhere in the long run but again if cinemas stay open. The business of Pushpa in Hindi on Friday also ensures it will be the highest grossing film in India of 2021 in terms of NETT collections.
