Shang Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings did very well on day as it recorded collections in the 3-3.25 crore nett range. This is the highest opening day number since the restart of cinemas in India in July and the second best opening for Hollywood in India post the pandemic. It is also higher than any Hindi film on day one post the pandemic.
The film was best in South with Nizam / Andhra showing excellent collections of around 70 lakhs nett while Tamil Nadu and Mysore also did well. Despite most Bangalore cinemas being open the city could hardly collect but has woken up a little with this Hollywood release. The major contribution in Hindi markets came from Delhi / UP. It has returned the best numbers in Delhi / UP for Hollywood post the pandemic beating the numbers of Godzilla Vs Kong. The collections have become without Mumbai and Pune which can contribute around 20% of the business for Hollywood releases.
Fast & Furious 9 saw a drop in collections on day two probably because of the release of Shang Chi. Still considering the film has released on digital across the world and India has a pirated version the collections are pretty healthy for this presnet scenario and exhibitors will be happy with response. The two day numbers of Fast & Furious 9 are as follows.
Thursday - 2,00,00,000
Friday - 1,50,00,000
TOTAL - 3,50,00,000
