The Telugu film Vakeel Saab has taken a huge bumper opening in Andhra Pradesh and the opening was also excellent in Bangalore and other centres of Karnataka. Andhra Pradesh is still 100% occupancy allowed though neighbouring states like Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are 50% or set to go to 50% anytime now.

The film also opened to in some cities of Hindi markets in Telugu format but with Mumbai shut the collections will be very limited. Vakeel Saab mainly got some turnout at some sites which have educational institutions with students from Andhra Pradesh. This is the usual occurence when its a Telugu or even Tamil film in its original language.

The film may take an opening of around 30 crore nett or even higher across India on day one which will be the highest for a Telugu for quite some time and if it gets to 35 crore nett then it would be the highest opening in India post the pandemic beating the Tamil film Master.

Vakeel Saab features Pawan Kalyan who is probably the biggest crowd puller in Andhra Pradesh though his last few films have not been up to the mark in terms of appreciation. This film despite opening in the second wave of covid19 will probably still record one of the biggest opening days in the history of Telugu cinema.

The Nizam / Andhra is by a distance the best performing circuit post covid19 but would have been affected a little over the past few weeks with second wave of covid19 which would have pushed the family audience back. Even when Andhra was doing very well in March there were reports from cinemas in Hyderabad that family audiences are still far less from pre covid19 days.

The film opened yesterday (Thursday) in USA and is looking to collect around the $300k mark which is the best number for an Indian film there post the pandemic.
