Junglee has taken out Gully Boy on television as it crosses 1 crore impressions on its premiere while Gully Boy could not even get half the number. The screenings happened on the same weekend for both films. Gully Boy doing poorly is not a surprise as collections came down fast after the the initial five days which had a holiday factor especially outside Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore. Its one of those films which the media shows as some sort of classic when its fa away from the truth.
Junglee always had a chance on television as its business in the lower ticket rate areas did out perform but to get 1 crore plus impressions is a big number and its the fourth best of 2019. The film is sure HIT on television and how big it can become depends on next few ratings.
Uri - The Surgical Strike also did not take a huge premiere but its next couple of ratings were decent but its unlikely Gully Boy can do that as it fared far worse than Uri - The Surgical Strike in mass centres. A Baaghi 2 has picked up nearly 40 lakh impressions on its umpteenth screening while Gully Boy is just 52 lakh on its premeire. This is the difference between Hindi (Baaghi 2) and European (Gully Boy) cinema. The television premieres of above 50 lakhs in 2019 are as follows.
