Kalank recorded the best opening day of 2019 with collections at around 21 crore nett. The film just edged past the total of Kesari with most circuits going ahead of Kalank. Mumbai, East Punjab, Rajasthan and CI remained behind.

In terms of real value it could be that Total Dhamaal is the top opener of the year as all the films above it had an holiday advantage and even though none of the holidays were the real big ones they all make a difference today. Kesari real value was 14.5-15 crore and it could be that Kalank is pretty similar though it will be the next few days that will tell depending on the trend till Monday.

There have been a few films that have got good openings in the first 3-4 months of the year but that bumper or even excellent opening is missing. It should be Avengers - Endgame which gets it next week but sadly that is a Hollywood film and not a Hindi film. The top opening days of the year till date are as follows.
