Total Dhamaal has done well on the opening day as collections look to be around 16 crore nett as per early estimates. This is the biggest start for an Ajay Devgn starrer on a non holiday with the top films being Singham Returns and Golmaal Again but those were 30 crore nett plus and released on a national holiday.
The film also has the biggest opening day of the year in real value. Gully Boy last week opened to 19.26 crore nett but that was released on Valentines Day which probably added around 30-35% to its collections going by the second day numbers which means a real value of around 14-15 crore nett on day one.
The numbers are very good in Rajasthan and CP Berar with both markets heading towards 1 crore nett and these markets are better than Welcome Back and Judwaa 2, both of which were in the same zone. These films had an all India opening similar to Total Dhamaal. Gujarat, CI, Maharashtra, etc should also have good numbers when they come in.
This is good opening number and better than most would have expected considering the music and even no heroine which has a following with the youth of the day. Now its going to be about the growth which will have to come even though mass markets are good. The metros will have to go upward tomorrow and hopefully enough so the all India numbers goes up as well.
