October grossed 27.75 crore nett in its first week which is on the lower side but it did hold well over the weekdays which is pretty much the story for all these urban content type of films. The film is safe in terms of economics due to the revenue from digital and satellite but has to go towards the 40 crore nett mark for a respectable theatrical performance.

This will depend on the business of the second Friday which is all important for the film. It has held well over the weekdays but is places like Mumbai and Bangalore which do sometimes drop off in the second week. A sustaining area like Delhi NCR is under performing for the film so it remains to be seen how it goes.

A drop under 30% from Thursday will do nicely for the film but if it goes towards 40% or more then it will have to show bigger growth on Saturday.

The film has the lowest figures for a Varun Dhawan starrer in week one but was probably a certainty before release as its his first film inspired by European cinema which is dire and flat for the majority of Hindi film audience. Actually second after Badlapur but that film was adapted better and not as subtle as this and had Hit songs to give it an initial boost which was the main reason of its success. That film had a first week of almost 36 crore nett and is the second lowest Varun Dhawan starrer in week one.

The Hollywood release Rampage did fair business in week one as it grossed around 18.75 crore nett and this is without 3D screenings which would have easily taken it over 20 crore nett and maybe even a few crore higher than 20 crore nett which would have been a good result.

The film held well on the weekdays and could do decent business in its second week. The lack of competition will improve it chances for a decent second week total though next week it will be out and Infinity War releases which is the biggest Hollywood release of the year for India.
