Imran Khan after Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, Sanjay Dutt back after a long time, Sanjay Gadhvi on a hat trick after Dhoom 2, edge of the seat thrills, thrilling action, if you are looking for all this and much more, then sorry, this is the wrong film.
Like Drona this one also tries to please everyone. Songs that were not needed. Bad casting like Rahul Dev & Vidya Malavade. Kidnap could have been a brilliant cat & mouse game thriller turns out to be just another bollywood family drama.
The script by Shibani Bhatija is the weakest link of this film. It tries to be a drama in the guise of a thriller & it doesn’t stay true to any of the genres. A film like this should make you sit up on your seat & stick to the screen till the end of the film but this film does not provide even a single sequence which will make you sit up. Sanjay Dutt’s character does not justify the kind of stunts he does through out the film. Sanjay Dutt gives hope to every man with a paunch. If he can do all that, then people with a paunch would make the fittest in this world. There is no background story to justify how a billionaire like him can do the kind of stunts he does in the film. Imran Khan tries hard to be the bad guy but ends up being Grey. A character that is confused, doesn’t know if he’s black, grey or white. He does not justify the character he plays. He acts to impress rather than getting into the character. Minnisha Lamba flaunts her newly acquired implants to the maximum. Sanjay Gadhvi falters with this film. It makes you wonder how much of Aditya Chopra was there in Dhoom 1 & 2. This Sanjay Gadhvi is the one who made Tere Liye.
Final few words: There was a film based on a kidnap called Inkaar. Watch that to know what a good screenplay is. If you are a fan of Imran Khan then this film might interest you otherwise it’s a disappointing thriller.
