Padmaavat has grossed in the 18 crore nett range on day one. The film would have opened at around 26-27 crore nett if it was a clean release but the reason why it did not get a clean release is the huge controversy around it and that is what gave it a 26-27 crore nett potential. At the end of the day whatever extra hype the controversy gave the film, it has taken back with the non screening in places, maybe even more.

The film has done excellent business in Mumbai and Nizam / Andhra. The apprx numbers around India are as follows.

Mumbai - 7 crore (excellent)

Delhi / UP - 3 crore

East Punjab - 1.70 crore

Nizam - 2.25 crore (excellent)

Mysore - 1 crore

East - 2 crore

CP Berar - 75 lakhs

Tamil Nadu / Kerala - 50 lakhs

Note these figures may have plus/minus 5% variance due to the problems with screenings as some places may have started last evening while others may have closed shop early in fear of violence

In Overseas its pretty clear that Gulf will take a toll in the film which is the biggest overseas market for most films, the opening is not too strong here for such a huge film ($375k) and the reports are also so so which will limit its prospects. Australia (a$367k) was a record as both majar chains of the country played when normally it is one and United Kingdom with £100k was also good.
