The battle is hotting up for Christmas 2018 with so many films targeting that period. There have been announcement of Kedarnath (Sushant Rajput) while Temper remake (Ranveer Singh) is also expected on Christmas week with a release on 21st December but is not confirmed. The Shahrukh Khan home production directed by Anand Rai is expected though not announced officially. Also there is Dabangg 3 which is expected around that time also with the film expected to be shot for in the middle of 2018. Dabangg 3 could prove to be the white horse because at the moment the thought is that only the Shahrukh Khan film will be the real big one for Xmas 2018 but if Dabangg 3 also makes it then it will be fireworks of epic proportions next December.
The holiday clashes seem inevitable now as in the past year or so it can be seen that a film in a big holiday clash can actually do better business than if it was released on a ordinary day. Even Race 3 and 2.0 coming on Eid is a possibilty depending if that later is ready by that time. It would be difficult for Diwale and Bajirao Mastani to get the numbers they did on Xmas 15 if they released solo without a clash, ditto for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil / Shivaay. Raees / Kaabil can be added to list too and Golmaal Again and Secret Superstar (Here Golmaal Again needs a Diwali as it is such a huge brand in Gujarat and that circuit has an extended holiday). The footfall turnout on big festive weeks keeps on getting bigger while the audience is dwindling at other times. A Bahubali - The Conclusion may come and bring out an audience which has not been to the theatres for 15 or 20 years but that is an exception.
