The box office in India saw a decent result this Friday as Thor - Ragnarak opened very well and then picked up further post the afternoon shows to record very good first day collections which look set to cross the 9 crore nett mark. The film is one of the biggest Hollywood opening days in India but it will be in the morning that it will be known which position the film stands. The last Thor film had picked up just 2.25 crore nett but with the popularity of Thor picking up through other films and the presence of Hulk in this film has meant a huge first day audience for the film. The film looks set to be a winner and even Hollywood has not had many of those year in India.
Ittefaq has also managed to pick up a little in the evening and should collect around 3.75 crore nett with a chance of hitting the 4 crore nett mark. The way the film opened in the morning it looked a sub 3 crore nett number. The collections will be similar to The Gentleman which was a bigger film, had a wider release and opened on a day which was a partial holiday. The pick up on Friday does mean a solid Saturday jump but it is about how big it can be as 30-35% is pretty regular nowadays. Ittefaq was released on around 1100 screens while The Gentleman was released on 1900 screens.
