Simran had a poor first week of 13.25 crore nett apprx which makes it pretty certain that the film has no chance of reaching even 20 crore nett. The film opened to dull collections and the growth over the weekend was not good enough and Monday pretty much ended any chance it had of survival.

It managed better collections at premium multiplexes but fifty odd multiplexes are not going to change the fate of the film unless they have excellent collections.  It has managed to outscore the competition of Lucknow Central but that is hardly a consolation prize.

Lucknow central fared even worse than Simran as it grossed 10.75 crore nett apprx in its first week. The film managed to catch Simran on Thursday with just a couple of lakhs between the films when the opening day gap was 70 lakhs nett in the favour of Simran. It should do a little better in week two than Simran going by the weekday trend but the race is probably over and it will very surprising if it can make the 2.50 crore nett it is behind Simran. This is because the film has been rejected outright so collections will be too low to make real inroads into the gap.

The other release Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi was a disaster as it grossed around 75 lakhs nett in the first week.
