This week will see the release of Munna Micheal with Tiger Shroff, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and a new female lead. The film is an action comedy dance film with one song Ding Dang becoming popular. Tiger Shroff started his career with two hits Heropanti and Baaghi which were with the same director of Munna Micheal while his last The Flying Jatt floped badly as the only audience that it connected with was children as we saw with last weeks Jagga Jasoos this audience is not enough for a big film. The problem with Munna Micheal is that although expectations are similar to Baaghi but that was a genuine action film while here its more in the masala genre with comedy and dance in the front line.

The film is going to be depending on the Mumbai circuit as its going to find the going tough in the North. Mumbai maybe supported by CP Berar and Nizam / Andhra and possibly other parts of South but the rest becomes a word of mouth story which is a problem for a Masala film. The film probably had to tilt more towards action to get a better start across more circuits of India. Mumbai is a huge circuit so it can still score on the strength of it with some help from the above mentioned circuits but at some point North will have to come on board at a level for a good final total. Its unlikley that a good decent two week run can come on just a couple if circuits even if Mumbai is one.

Last week Jagga Jasoos opened at 8.25 crore nett on 1750 screens and this will go around 2500 and maybe even more but as the high grossing cinemas of North are not looking encouraging on advance numbers it is not going to find it easy to go past Jagga Jasoos despite the extra screens. There is also  Lipstick Under My Burkha which has been in the news with some censor trouble but its unlikely to be much of a threat to Munna Micheal though the film may have got some awareness due to the controversy so a handful of people may actually turn up.
