Manje Bistre has had a huge weekend as it grossed over 6 crore nett in East Punjab making it the third highest opening weekend ever for a Punjabi film behind the two Sardaarji films. It is only the third film to go over 5 crore nett for the first weekend. Manje Bistre is a SUPER HIT film and could turn out to be a blockbuster depending on the weekdays which will hold steady but the question is how steady. The Overseas figures will be a record at around 7.75 crore which will put its Worldwide figures at 14.75 crore GROSS box office which will be highest ever. The highest grossing Punjabi film of all time is Chaar Sahibzaade and that is not even on the chart below as its weekend business was hardly 1 crore nett but it went on to do nearly 20 crore nett in East Punjab.
1. Sardaarji 2 - 6,53,00,000
2. Sardaarji - 6,46,00,000
3. Manje Bistre - 6,01,00,000
4. Bambukaat - 4,67,00,000
5. Ambarsariya - 4,56,00,000
6. Jatt & Juliet 2 - 3,82,00,000
7. Angrez - 3,68,00,000
8. Nikka Zaildaar - 3,45,00,000
9. Punjab 1984 - 3,21,00,000
10. Disco Singh - 3,12,00,000
The top ten films are dominated by Diljit Dosanjh starrers (Udta Punjab and Phillauri) who has six of the top ten openings and that is a feat which no one has (or probably has ever had) in any of the film industries in India.
Super Singh featuring Diljit Dosanjh will release on 16th June and is the biggest Punjabi film ever made and this could break all records and take the benchmarks to another level.
