Dangal recorded the third highest footfalls of all time in the first week but it did fall short of the 2 crore mark which was achieved by Sultan and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Dangal has tax exemptions from the second week onward and that will help increase the footfalls going forward and this will give it a chance to beat the Bajrangi Bhaijaan figure which is the highest in the last fifteen years. The film has to go that much further to beat the footfalls due to ticket rate hikes over time. The first week footfall comparison of the big five films released in the last few years is as follows.
