The opening of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is good enough to keep Ranbir Kapoor above the competition among the young stars. The actor was running a one horse race when Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Besharam were taking huge initials. The opening that Besharam took in East Punjab and Delhi especially the later had taken him to striking distance of Salman Khan in those two markets even though Besharam actually crashed out. But then it went downhill from from an enviable position with Bombay Velvet. In this time Varun Dhawan and Ranveer Singh made good strides but the opening of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil pretty much makes it clear that Ranbir Kapoor is the best bet among the young guns.

The initial that Ae Dl Hai Mushkil has taken is at a 15 crore nett plus level taking it fair value. Obviously its pre Diwali and there is competition so it may not finally hit that figure but if this was a normal Friday then the film would have easily gone through that 15 crore nett mark. Now the day could fall short by 5-10% or even 20-25% but as far as the initial goes its the third best of 2016 after Sultan and Dhoni. This may not be reflected in the opening day figure but that is more to with external factors. The damage of Bombay Velvet is probably still there but slowly the star seems to be coming out of that fiasco. Its not the craze at the time of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Besharam but comparing it the initial of a Tamasha this is much much better. The hit music of the film will also have aided the film but every star today needs a bit of padding and only hit music can't give a start of this level.

The younger stars still need that reach be it Ranbir, Varun or Ranveer because as the centres get smaller the openings get weaker and this should come in time if they make the correct films but this reach is very important to last as the main lead because in a few years time the urban youth which is supporting them will probably move onto younger actors so to remain alive you have to have the families or mass with you, preferably both.
