The film is a love story spanning a decade. Samar Anand (Shah Rukh Khan) is a Indian immigrant working odd jobs to make ends meet who charms richgirl Meera Thapar (Katrina Kaif) enough that she falls in love with him despite already being engaged.
But Meera, who is oddly superstitious then voluntarily, abandons Samar after he meets with an accident because she promises to not meet him if his life is spared. Samar goes back to India and joins the army. His father and grandfather also served in the army but his mother wanted him never to join the army. He becomes an ace bomb diffuser who’s so bad ass that he doesn’t wear a bomb suit while diffusing bombs.
Enter an aspiring documentary maker, Akira (Anuskha Sharma), who wants to film Samar on his job and a bond develops between a carefree Akira and the stoic Major Anand. The rest is about the love triangle develops as Akira, Meera and Samar come face to face.
