Barfi! had an excellent first week collecting 57.50 crore nett approx in its first week. The film held up exceedingly well on the weekdays collecting around 23.50 crore nett. It had a holiday on Wednesday but there was a bandh in many parts on Thursday so extra collections on Wednesday were cancelled out by the lost collections on Thursday due to bandh.

Although there was bandh on Thursday in many parts, the film was helped by the fact that both Mumbai city and Delhi city which are big contributors for the film were largely unaffected. 

The first week collections are the highest ever outside the big grossing masala entertainers which have much higher potential than a film like Barfi! due universal appeal.
