Neeja had a good first day in the metros grossing 4.50 crore nett apprx. The film started slow but picked up pace through the day and was recording good occupancy by the evening in places like Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Chandigarh, Pune and Bangalore. The film was weak in many parts of the country but that is expected as its a content film with no face value.
The business was best in North with East Punjab at over 50 lakhs nett and Delhi / UP at 1 crore nett apprx with a huge chunk of business coming from Delhi city and Noida. Mumbai circuit should settle in between 1.25-1.50 crore nett.
The film will grow on Saturday but it will be how much can it grow on Saturday. Last year Piku grew 65% from a higher opening while Tanu Weds Manu Returns was 50% from a good start. A few films have even showed 80-100% growth but were collecting less than what Neerja did.
Its likely the growth will come somewhere in the 30-80% range and if its in the upper end of the range the film is likley to have a good sustained run in the big cities at least.
